Other great ’06 albums to add to the list:
    -Early Day Miners, Offshore
-Los Lobos, the Town and the City
-Pearl Jam, s/t (hey, I liked it!)
and maybe the best album from a modern band–the Hold Steady, Boys and Girls in America

  2. Kim Says:

I would like to applaud culture.ish for writing a feature article on a hip-hop artist. It’s about time.

    Literature musts ‘06:
    David Kuo – Tempting Faith
    Gary Shteyngart – Absurdistan

    Music musts ‘06:
Arctic Monkeys – People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not
Muse – Black Holes and Revelations

    Movie musts ’06:
    The Fountain

    good call(s). both of you.

hold steady is great. not sure how we missed that one. not sure about pearl jam though. ha. also, we should have done hip-hop sooner. our bad.

minor miss print. Ben Harper’s latest album is called Both Sides of the Gun. A great double album. Read Mike McGhee’s thoughts on it here:

We also missed The Departed, that’s a must see.

Mindy Smith’s new album is also worth listening to.

Pearl Jam? God, no. If for no other reason than the vomit-inducing “Worldwide Suicide”.

  6. Jason Says:

I liked it better than the vomit-inducing Flaming Lips album. To each their own, I guess.
