are articles ever written up before the movies come out?

we haven’t done any before a movie has come out. normally we watch it then review it. let me know if you have a different idea.

chris, cutlure.ish is awesome, but you need to talk about heroes. are you watching it? when hiro said “great scott” yesterday, that was the final kicker for me. they officially appealed to enough of my nerdity (time travel, back to the future references, awesome asian people… actually, that’s enough right there) to win me over. keep up the good work with this culture.ish thing–interesting, thoughtful read every week, even when it’s just youtube posts. you rock (let’s hang out).

I’m not saying this to be harsh, but I can tell you’ve not watched much noir, Chris. It’s funny–Brick is a homage to lots of the classic hardboiled novels and films (quoting them verbatum at points), but it’s aimed at a generation that–by-and-large–knows zip about the genre.

    Still, glad you watched it.

Also, Janet–watching a film before its release usually requires you to be an established film critic or hunting around pre-release screenings, which are rare. There are usually legal restrictions that require you to wait to a film’s release before doing a review, too.

haha. good call jason. that would make sense why brick seems like a big deal to a lot of people and not as big of deal to other people (sort of like me). still a good movie, but the deep stuff was(is) definitely lost on me.

You know you’re old when you don’t recognize any of the artists on “The Playlist”…
